Hi Everyone,

My name is Crystal and I'm from California.  I have had the gastric bypass July of 2008 and I have already lost 133lbs. I started at 350lbs and now I"m 217lbs, and I don't even look it.  I feel great. Once I get new pictures of me I'll see if I can post them.

However, I'm in a little bit of a pickle here. Im going on a date and he's taking me to a sit down dinner Chillis.   The problem I'm having is I'm not sure what to order.  What I usually will do when eating out is get a mini meal at like McDonalds or I will pick off of my husbands plate, which is now my ex husband.  I don't order from the kids meals and sometimes when I go out I'll look at the sides they have but they really don't always coordinate to make a balanced meal.  My date does know that I have had the gastric bypass and he knows that I can not eat awhole alot.   How should I bring this up to my date again to remind him? What should I order? Any suggestions will be great.

Thank you

Crystal

Hi Crystal,

At Chili's, I normally order a bowl of soup.  You might also try the soup and side salad combo.  It is not expensive yet you feel like you are ordering a real meal.  I hope you have fun on your date.

Hi Crystal:

No doubt there will be plenty of things to choose.  They have lots of protein dishes (fish, chicken, beef, etc.) .  Whatever you order, the thing to keep in mind is making a good choice and then only consuming the right portion for your pouch.  So just because the portion on your plate is more than you can eat . . you just eat what is right for you.   Don't worry about how much is left.   Things like fajitas are easy because  you don't have to take the sides (have them leave them in the back) nor the tortillas.  Then you are left with a nice plate of grilled protein and veggies.  Or they have fish dishes to choose from.  If you don't see sides you like . . ask them to just leave them off completely.  They also offer a wide variety of salads too.  You'll have plenty of options.

Just have a great time!

HI Melissa and Dan

That's what I was thinking. But being that I told him I had the surgery I just didnt know if he would expect my part of the bill to be cheap.

Thanks for you help,

Crystal

Hmmm, if he did worry about that then he's focusing on the wrong thing.  It shouldn't matter . .surgery or not .  . how much you eat sweetie.  If he's wanting to spend time with you, that's all he'll really care about and all he should care about.
