Hi! I'm from Las Vegas. I just found this website today, and looking through some of the messages I see that there are few (or none) Adjustable Lapband people here. I did see that at one time, you were considering the Lapband and I'm wondering what you decided on? The large majority of comments that I see about the Lapband are VERY negative, and since I have no choice (for a couple of reasons), I think I might be in the wrong place. I have surgery coming up in about two months or so, and in the interim I really can't afford a lot of negative thinking.  :?

If you don't mind, I would like to know what your experience has been.

Many thanks,

Wynter

I actually decided on gastric bypass... and I gotta tell ya it's the best decision I've ever made!! The reason I switched is because my surgeon (who had previously recommended the band) thought I would get a better result with the bypass. He said he was seeing a lot of patients really struggling who had had the band, and why not give myself the best tool available. Let me tell you, I had been dead set against bypass, thinking it was too extreme, etc. But I am now just over six months post surgery, have lost about 82lbs, have gone from a size 22w to a regular size 12, and I am thrilled!!! I was very lucky in that I have not had any complications from the surgery. I attribute that to the fact that I followed the pre and post op instructions to the letter... no cheating..

I hope this helps. Good luck with your journey. Talk to your surgeon about your concerns and maybe that will help ease your mind. You are right, no negative thoughts!!! best wishes!
