| I had bypass on October 20, 2008. I was on a 6 week liquid diet prior to surgery. So far (including the pre-op weight loss) I have lost 73 pounds. I am really happy with that!! My question is that part of the reason that I wanted the bypass was because I thought that my pouch would keep my honest on my eating. I was sure that if I ate something I shouldn't I would get sick and then not do it again. However, I haven't found anything that I can't eat. I haven't eaten alot of anything too bad, but the worst problem I have had is gas. I have found that drinking with my meals doesn't even bother me. Sometimes I wonder if they really did the bypass. Has anyone else experienced this. I really wanted the restrictions.

Hello
I also havent really had a problem eating anything yet, of course I have not varied from the rules, and credit that to my sucess thus far. I'm a big chicken, I dont want to get sick from eating somthing I should not really be having. I also had my surgery fairly recently Nov 4th 2008, I'm 8 weeks out today! I have lost 56 pounds total and I'm thriilled so far, I keep stalling for a couple of days at a time with no weight loss, and then I loose a couple more then nothing. I'm getting in all my fluids and protein and carbs are half the protein intake, and all my vitamins, the only thing I can think of is I'm not getting enough physical activity. I work full time and I'm exausted when I get home at night, still waiting for the massive energy to return lol. As for the gas thing , I have that too...

I have a silly question . You both mentioned you had really bad gas. I work in Sam's Club around the public all day, and I am hoping it doesn't affect me too much.Anyway, is it sticky gas lol that will embarass me?

Hi there
Like you, around the 6th-8th weeks, I found that I could eat almost anything and not get sick and I started to think I had ruined my pouch or maybe the doctor didn't do it right, but around week 9 I started to get sick with anythng that was milk-related or sugar related. Now I can eat some sugar, but not much - and forget about eating anything that has milk in it. I also developed an aversion to breads, pasta - anything that had grain. So don't worry - you're normal but I would strongly advise you NOT to push the food boundaries the doctor recommended, otherwise in a couple of years you'll end up exactly where you started - at least that's what I've read and it scares me enough not to do it.
All the best,
Aleria

| To curb those cravings try the 5 day pouch test. it's on this site somewhere but I can never remember where. If you can't find it you can google it.

| I could probably eat about anything, I just don't, plain and simple. Use this tool of not being ovely jungry to learn new and wonderful healthful habits. I don't know, I feel like a switch went off for me and 99 percent of the time I have complete control of what I put in my body. The further out I get the pickier I get, good luck, love yourself!!!

The authors can delete their posts if they choose. Possibly that's what occurred. We don't see anything that seems missing, but maybe we missed seeing the posts the first time around.
